It was celebrations all round on Thursday 12 July when the latest cohort of Diploma MSc students graduated. 145 Diploma MSc students from 14 courses graduated, having successfully completed their Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters programmes earlier this year.
‘The course has helped me to help my patients’
Amongst those attending the ceremony at the University of South Wales was Dr Kabad N S Rao, a cardiologist in India. Dr Rao was excited to graduate from the Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes and wasn’t going to miss his chance to celebrate: “The course was very interesting but also quite tough so I was very pleased to complete the course and when I got my results I felt like the hard work was definitely worthwhile.”
Enjoying celebratory drinks with the Diploma MSc team at the event, Dr Rao said: “It’s an honour to finally meet the Student Support Team who have helped me each step of the way to complete my postgraduate diploma and I look forward to working with them again as I’m now progressing to the MSc.”
‘Learning online meant I could fit studying around raising my family’
Also enjoying showcasing her cap and gown was Dr Vimbayi Kandeke, a general surgeon originally from Zimbabwe and now settled in Manchester in the UK. Vimbayi was graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Obesity and Weight Management, having enjoyed the online nature of the course: “Being able to fit studying around work and family commitments was a huge factor in being able to pass the course. My partner works away a lot and I have a young family so I needed the flexibility that Diploma MSc offers.”
